Thank you so much, Kathy, for sharing so much of what you learned at the conference. Of course, your sharing is no surprise, as you are always so generous with your knowledge, care and wisdom.
To answer your question: I want to write from a more emotional place and tell more stories about my own life experiences. Apparently, on social media, that is what is wanted: personal stories with emotion and vulnerability.
Hi Peggy! Thanks for your comments. It's interesting that people want to know the real person we are, no longer falling for all the glitz on social media. Of course, it's still there, but there's a change. There's a collective sigh of relief when someone shares who they are, not their Facebook or Instagram life. Those things are fun, of course, but people want to connect with real people and genuine issues. It brings out some empathy in us, a much needed emotion in today's chaos. And reading about someone else's journey, whether it be a personal experience, or a character in a novel, somehow makes us feel like we're not so bad off after all. Another reason, in my mind, to write from an emotional place is that it becomes a healing practice. We look inside, rather than outside, for answers.
Hi Kathy! You are welcome. Everything you say is so valuable and so true. I will continue to "reach within" and write from a deeper and deeper place. It isn't a natural for me, so is a wonderful opportunity.
Same here. I want to stretch to write the emotions in my novel that are under the surface and unspoken. By looking at my own, I hope to open some doors for the characters.
